Jaipur: The legislators of Ashok Gehlot’s camp have visited the residence of former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, indicating that some changes are in the offing in Rajasthan politics, sources said on Saturday. Minister of State for Rural Development Rajendra Singh Gudha said that Pilot would be the best choice for heading Rajasthan.
Now that Ashok Gehlot has decided to become the president of the All-India Congress Committee, there cannot be a better candidate than Pilot to lead the state, Gudha said. He told media persons that Pilot might take over as the new Chief Minister during Navratri, though the party high command would take a decision on the issue. All legislators of the Congress including those who joined the party from the BSP would abide by that decision, he said, adding that there should not be any contradiction.
As soon as Gehlot decided to become the president of the AICC, many Congress legislators threw their hat in the ring for the post of Rajasthan Chief Minister. Pilot has begun to hold meetings with the party legislators in his bungalow in Jaipur. He held meetings with legislators, Ameen Khan and Parasram Mordia, who reportedly belong to the Gehlot camp. He also met the party law-makers in the Assembly, sources further said.
