Party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi called him to the national capital, sources in the Congress said.
Sonia Gandhi reportedly asked Venugopal to come to Delhi to discuss the issues related to the organisation. This is for the first time that he left the Yatra since it began on September 7 from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. The Congress presidential poll is set to take place on October 17.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot might contest the election. Gehlot, however, said that he was trying to persuade Rahul Gandhi to take over as party president.
