New Delhi: The Supreme Court has stayed the implementation of the three agricultural laws of the central government. On Tuesday, the court has constituted a four-member committee to resolve the issue and will report directly to the Supreme Court in two months. Also, the court has said that the minimum support price (MSP) before the law was passed, it will continue till the next order.
The committee formed by the Supreme Court included Bhupinder Singh Mann of the Indian Farmers Union, Anil Ghanwant of the Shetkari Organization, Ashok Gulati, agricultural economist and Pramod K. of the International Food Policy Research Institute. Joshi is included. This committee will submit its report directly to the Supreme Court, till the report of the committee comes, the implementation of the agricultural laws will continue.
The court said that the committee would submit the report after hearing the representatives of the government as well as farmer organizations and other stakeholders. The report will contain the recommendations of the committee. This work is to be completed in two months. The first meeting will be held within ten days from today.
The apex court held that as a result of maintaining the agricultural laws, the applicable minimum support price system should be maintained till further orders before the laws are enacted. The order stated, “In addition, the land holdings of the farmers will be protected, that is, no farmer shall be deprived or deprived of his ownership as a result of the action taken under the law.”
