New Delhi: The victim’s family and lawyer were threatened in the court room in the Uttar Pradesh Hathras gangrape case. In this case, the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court has said that it can send the trial of this case out of Hathras. The court’s comment came after the victim’s brother had filed an affidavit stating that during the trial this month, the victim’s family and their lawyers had received threats and were being pressurized.
Significantly, last year, a 19-year-old Dalit girl was gangraped in Hathras, UP, where the victim died in Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital after treatment. There are four accused from the village itself, who are currently lodged in Aligarh Jail. The bench has directed the Hathras District Judge and the CRPF Inspector General of Central Sector to investigate the entire matter and present the report to the court within 15 days.
In this affidavit filed in the High Court, the victim’s brother told that the incident happened during the hearing on March 5 in the special court of Hathras. A Bench of two judges of the High Court has asked for a report on the incident and said that it will consider the possibility whether to keep the case in the same court or transfer it elsewhere. The bench also said that the CBI can also file a petition to transfer the case from Hathras and transfer it elsewhere in the state.
