Kolkata: The impact of ongoing election rallies and road shows in Bengal is now coming to the fore in the increasing cases of corona infection. On Wednesday, 10,784 new cases were confirmed. This is the highest number of cases to come in a day.
The Health Department said that 58 people died of corona in 24 hours. So far, 6,88,956 people have been infected in the state and the death toll has gone up to 10,710. There were 9,819 new cases of corona virus infection in West Bengal on Tuesday.
However, amid growing Corona cases, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee dismissed the possibility of a lockdown in the state. She said that the vaccination campaign will start from May 5 for all those above 18 years of age.
Explain that due to Covid infection, TMC had demanded to hold the remaining phases elections in West Bengal in one phase, but the Election Commission is continuously rejecting this demand. On Thursday, votes are being cast in 43 seats for the sixth phase for the assembly elections in the state.
