New Delhi: The outbreak of the delta variant of Corona has not yet subsided in the world that the threat from a new variant is beginning to be felt. The name of this new type of Covid-19 virus is Lambda variant. Scientists and health experts see this Lambda variant as a new emerging threat. On June 14, the World Health Organization (WHO) described the newest and seventh variant of Corona and gave it the scientific name C.37. WHO recommends monitoring the behavior of this new variant.
Like the Delta variant of Corona, this Lambda variant has been found in more than 30 countries. It is feared to be more contagious. However, not much data is available on the infection of this virus yet. The lambda variant has been found to be more effective in Peru and other countries of South America. This variant is not yet found in India but it was recently found in UK and other countries of Europe.
However, some reports also state that the Lambda variant is not new. It has a presence in the world since at least the beginning of August 2020. It is believed that for the first time this variant was found in Peru. About 80 percent of the infection in this country is spread through this variant. This variant has also been found to be dominant in neighboring Chile. So far this variant has been found in some South American countries including Ecuador, Argentina. After March, this variant has been found in more than 25 countries.
