NZ announced Test squad against India, Boult return

Date:

New Delhi: Uncapped fast bowler Kyle Jameson has been selected in the New Zealand squad for the two-match Test series against India. For the first time Jameson has been included in the Test team. He performed brilliantly on the New Zealand-A and domestic circuits and then impressed with his bowling in the three-match ODI series against India.

At the same time, Trent Boult and Ejaz Patel have also returned to the Kiwi team. The first match of the two-match Test series between India and New Zealand is to be played from 21 February.

Bolt, who was injured in the Boxing Day Test against Australia, has also returned to the team. Bolt could not play the last match of the Test series against Australia after that and also stayed away from limited overs cricket. The return of Bolt will greatly strengthen New Zealand’s bowling attack.

The three most experienced fast bowlers from New Zealand, Tim Southee, Trent Boult and Neil Wagner are part of this Test team. If the Kiwi team decides to go with four fast bowlers, then Jameson could also get a chance in the playing eleven.

In the spin department, Mitchell Santner is not part of the Test team. He has been replaced by Ejaz Patel in the Kiwi team. Apart from Santner, opener Jeet Rawal and fast bowler Matt Henry have also not been included in the Test team.

New Zealand team for Test series

Kane Williamson (captain), Tom Latham, Tom Blundle, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, BJ Watling, Colin de Grandhom, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner, Trent Boult, Ejaz Patel, Kyle Jameson, Darrell Mitchell.
