Supreme Court approved the High Court’s decision

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has given a big decision on the rights of women in the Indian Army on Monday. The bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Ajay Rastogi, while giving the verdict, said that the mindset would change.

The court said that the appointment of women officers in the army is an evolutionary process. The Supreme Court has approved the decision of the High Court, and approved the permanent commission the women officers will get in the army.

With this, the Supreme Court has reprimanded the Central Government. The Supreme Court said that HC’s decision was not stayed, yet the Center did not implement the High Court’s decision.

There is no reason or justification for taking action on the decision of the High Court. After 9 years of the court’s decision, the Center brought a new policy for 10 streams.

The court said that equality of opportunity to all citizens, gender justice will guide the participation of women in the army. The Court rejected the views of the Center on the physical characteristics of women. The court said that the central government should change the attitude and mindset. True equality has to be brought in the army. 30% of women are actually deployed in combat zones.

Stereotypes denying permanent commissions represent prejudices. Women work shoulder to shoulder with men. Center’s arguments are disturbing. Women army officers have increased the pride of the country.
