AstraZeneca leading Covid vaccine race, says WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday that the UK-based AstraZeneca company is ahead in the vaccine race, while US-based pharmaceutical major Modern is also not far behind. The WHO has accepted that the corona virus vaccine may arrive in the world even a year or a few months ago.

WHO’s top scientist Dr. Soumya Swaminathan said that AstraZeneca’s Corona virus vaccine is the most advanced vaccine that is currently the best in development. Saumya Swaminathan said during a media interaction, “I think AstraZeneca definitely has a more global scope to deal with Corona where they are planning their vaccine trials”. The CEO of the British drug maker told Belgian radio station Bell RTL this month that AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine developed by researchers at the University of Oxford would likely provide protection against the disease.

Earlier, WHO chief Tedros Adenom Gabresius said that it could not be determined that scientists would be able to develop effective vaccines against the corona. We hope to get the Covid-19 vaccine. It may be ready within the next one year. Please tell that the WHO chief Tedros said this to Europe’s Parliamentary Health Committee during online conferencing.
