COVAXIN’s human trial begins, 12 cities selected

New Delhi: Human trial of COVAXIN, the first indigenous vaccine of corona virus in India, has started. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has given information about this by tweeting on Saturday. ICMR and Bharat Biotech have jointly developed this vaccine.

Dr. Harsh Vardhan said in a tweet, “Human trial of indigenous corona vaccine begins. The battle against covid-19 is now in a decisive phase. For the past several months, there are positive signs of ongoing efforts to develop the corona vaccine. We will soon We will win this epidemic completely. “

According to Bharat Biotech, these human trials will be done at 375 volunteers. The trials will be in total 3 phases and the first phase has started. 12 institutes of India including AIIMS are participating in this human trial. This vaccine has been given to 10 volunteers in AIIMS Patna and as of now there are no known side effects in any of the volunteers. This news is encouraging scientists.

ICMR has developed indigenous covid-19 vaccine (COVAXIN) in association with Bharat Biotech International Limited. Apart from the IMS & SUM Hospital, other institutes selected for clinical trials are Visakhapatnam, Rohtak, New Delhi, Patna, Belgaum (Karnataka), Nagpur, Gorakhpur, Kattankulatur (Tamil Nadu), Hyderabad, Arya Nagar, Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) and Goa. are situated.
