US FDA approves blood plasma therapy to treat Covid-19

Washington: US authorities on Sunday approved taking blood plasma from people who had recovered from Corona for treatment of the corona virus epidemic. Significantly, there have been 1,76,000 deaths from Corona in the US.

President Donald Trump is facing pressure to appear unable to curb the Corona epidemic. The epidemic has impacted the American economy. Due to Corona, there is a danger of Trump’s re-election in the presidential election in November.

It is believed that plasma contains powerful antibodies that can help fight disease faster and help people avoid getting seriously hurt by it. The US government said in a statement, “It may be effective in protecting against potential risks from covid-19.” Although plasma therapy is already being used on patients in the US and other countries, experts say it can also have side effects.

Earlier on Sunday, US media reported that Trump would make the announcement at a press conference, but the White House declined to comment on the president’s plans. Trump spokesman Kayle McNee said the president would announce a “major therapeutic breakthrough”. However, the government already allows plasma therapy of coronovirus patients under certain conditions, which is used for testing and for critically ill people. According to the Washington Post, more than 70,000 patients are being given therapy in the US.
