Many online travel companies such as Makemytrip, Cleartrip, Easemytrip, Ixigo and others are witnessing early signs of recovery in their businesses during the coronavirus pandemic.
The companies claim that they have started receiving bookings for domestic travel, especially resorts, hotels and domestic flights.
Thus, these companies are planning to come up with new deals and discounts to attract travellers for holiday bookings.
Since the government imposed a national lockdown on 25 March, which extended till May 2020, there has been no revenue generation for the online travel firms.
This has caused to job cuts, layoffs and shutdown of many offices to contain the existing cash reserves.
Online travel firms hope to revive their industry in the coming months. They are also planning to build credit facilities for travellers.
Due to the current times of crisis, travel companies have understood that travellers will take some time to come out of the fear and anxiety and get the confidence of travelling outside their homes until a vaccine is developed or coronavirus is contained.
