Modi is blackmailing the media: Congress

New Delhi: Congress has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of conspiring to suppress public voice and blackmail the media during the global pandemic.

Congress spokesperson Supriya Srinet said, “What do you think Modi ji was doing in the year 2020 when the whole country was facing an epidemic, the employment was in danger?” Was he worried about your life and livelihood? No . He was plotting a big conspiracy, to hide the truth, to suppress the voice of the public, to blackmail the media, to capture the pen of journalists and make him glorified.

Ms Sreenet said that this huge conspiracy has been revealed due to the government communication report going public. The members of this group were five cabinet ministers (Smriti Irani, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Prakash Javedkar, Jaishankar, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi) and four ministers of state (Hardeep Puri, Kiran Rijiju, Anurag Thakur, Babul Supriyo). The sole goal of this group was to suppress those who questioned the government and its policies. It is also a matter of concern that the Information Technology Rules, 2021, which contain laws governing OTT platform and digital media, which were just a few days ago, are based on the suggestions of this report. The bigger problem is that some media colleagues suggested the government to take control of the media itself.

He said that the group held six meetings during the Corona period. Their purpose was to bring positive headlines and news in favor of the government. The group consulted with media experts, senior journalists and some of the more responsible citizens of the society.

She said that one thing is clear here that there are journalists doing Charan Vandan and traitors who ask questions. If the truth of salt bread is shown in Mirzapur, then the journalist will go to jail, UAPA will be imposed against those who show the truth of Varanasi, there will be an FIR against those who give news of a little girl to be dusting in the district hospital in Deoria. There are many such examples.

The Congress leader said that we were consistently at the lowest position in freedom of press freedom, but now India has been pushed into the partial independent category.
