For the unaware, a Vaccine passport is a digital document that has scannable QR codes and gives information if the person who is traveling has received the coronavirus vaccination and even in some cases if he or she has been tested negative for the novel coronavirus disease. This seems to make it easier for authorities to reduce the travel restrictions and increase the speed towards getting back to “normal life”. Experts are of the opinion that health authorities all over the world want people who are traveling to take all the necessary precautions to avoid getting infected from the COVID-19 and also keep their personal health and safety as the top priority.

Vaccine passports should be mandatory everywhere so that people can authenticate themselves to be safe and even avoid the compulsory quarantine restrictions that get imposed when they reach another country. It will also provide travelers access to various facilities and reduce the waiting time to start their activities while they reach other countries. The Maldives, which was Indian travelers’ favorite vacation destination during the one-year coronavirus lockdown, is planning to come up with a fair framework for vaccine passports.

Since vaccination programs are being introduced in various countries, the vaccine passport will be an added advantage for the travel and tourism industry to recover their economic losses. A health passport-like vaccine passport will ensure that the travelers are safe. China has already come up with digital vaccine passports for its 1.4 billion people. Israel has started using vaccine pass to enter public events like concerts, weddings, or getting work. Hungary is working on immunity passports for travelers who have never got the virus.
