Sonia Gandhi will remain Congress chief till Congress next session

New Delhi: In a meeting of Congress Working Committee (CWC), it has been decided that Sonia Gandhi will remain the interim president of the party for the time being. Let me tell you that the Congress Working Committee meeting was going on today amid the leadership crisis in the Congress. During this time, the question of leadership was discussed openly. During the meeting, the interim president of the party, Sonia Gandhi, said that she no longer wants to continue as the party president. But many leaders appealed to him to continue in office. During this time there was a lot of outrage over the letter written by senior Congress leaders to Sonia.

Congress Working Committee member KH Muniyappa said that Madam (Sonia Gandhi) will continue. The election will be held as soon as possible, which is the unanimous decision of the working committee.

Congress Working Committee member P.L. Punia said that the Congress Working Committee had a long meeting today. All expressed their full faith in Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and requested Sonia Gandhi to continue as the Congress Interim President. Which he accepted.

He said that the next Congress session would be called as soon as possible. Can also occur within 6 months. Till then, Sonia Gandhi will continue to work as interim president.

The CWC accepted Manmohan Singh’s advice to convene the AICC session to elect a full-term president. It said that a committee should be formed to assist Sonia.

Sonia, in her closing remarks, told the CWC that the party needs to unite in its fight against the BJP. She holds no ill feelings against anyone.

Let me tell you that the Congress Working Committee met a day after the letter written by the top 23 leaders of Congress demanding full-time leadership. Other leaders, including former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, have opposed the letter. Ghulam Nabi Azad, one of the leaders who signed the letter, said in his clarification, “He has no problem with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, not because of Rahul Gandhi but because of the allegations leveled by other leaders. Has offered to resign. On the call for disciplinary action, the “disgruntled” leaders who wrote the letter said they were “ready to face the punishment” and remain loyal to the Congress.
