Lucknow: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the controversial case related to TRP manipulation.
The CBI has taken over the case on a FIR registered in Lucknow, sources here on Tuesday said.
The UP government had recommended for CBI probe, as the issue was linked with several states, sources claimed.
The FIR was registered at Hazratganj Police station, reportedly on the complaint of an advertising company promoter. Later, the state government recommended the transfer of the case to CBI.
As per sources, the complainant had alleged that TRPs were manipulated, in lieu of payment.
The FIR was registered at Hazratganj police station by one Kamal Sharma of Indira Nagar three days back, under Sections 468,465,463,420,409 406 and 120B of IPC.
The complainant had also demanded handing over the investigation to CBI.
The TRP controversy broke out in Mumbai and the private news channels were charged with giving money to manipulate it.
