Visa restrictions eased, OCI and PIO cardholders can now visit India

New Delhi: Government of India has given permission to foreign nationals to visit India on Thursday. According to the government’s decision, foreigners will be able to come to India for any purpose except tourist visa.

The Home Ministry on Thursday decided to reinstate all types of visas (electronic visas, tourist visas and medical visas) under Unlock-5. Foreigners visiting India for treatment can apply for medical visas. The entry of foreign nationals into India was discontinued in March with the announcement of lockdown.

As per the order, the government has allowed all OCI and PIO card holders and all other foreign nationals to visit India for any purpose, except for the tourist visa to enter by air or water routes through authorized airports and port immigration checkpoints. This includes flights operated by the Vande Bharat Mission, any non-scheduled commercial flights under the arrangement of the air transport bubble or as permitted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
