New Delhi: The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). At the same time, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that CAA is an internal matter of India and the Indian Parliament has the authority to make laws.

Giving information, spokesman Ravish Kumar said that our permanent mission in Geneva was informed on Monday evening to the United Nations High Commissioner (Human Rights) that his office has filed a petition in the Supreme Court of India to intervene in the CAA.

Further Ravish Kumar said, “We firmly believe that no foreign institutions have any right to interfere in issues related to the sovereignty of India. India makes it clear that the CAA is constitutionally valid and abides by all the requirements of its constitutional values. “

Spokesperson Ravish Kumar said that India is a democratic country which is ruled by law. We all have full faith and respect in our judiciary
