After Canadian PM, 36 UK MPs support Indian farmers’ agitation

New Delhi: After Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, now 36 members of the UK Parliament have supported the farmers’ movement. MPs have written to their country’s Foreign Secretary Dominic Rabb that they all demand the British government to intervene on the issue of farmers in India.

The MPs wrote in their letter that the situation created by the performance of farmers in India is a matter of concern for Sikh farmers living in Britain and India. MPs have also called for an immediate meeting to discuss this situation in the letter. The MPs have written in their letter that the three agricultural laws enacted by the Government of India are a kind of death warrant for about 3 crore people of the state. This is because a large number of people are farmers in Punjab and they live by selling their crops. It has also been written in the letter that the Punjabi farming community is considered as the backbone of the economic structure of the state today. This is the reason why the farmers of Punjab play an important role in the politics of the state and the country. In such a situation, the MPs have demanded the UK Government to discuss this law with the Government of India.

The relationship between India and Canada has been deteriorating ever since the way the farmer movement has been supported by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The Ministry of External Affairs of India has not only termed it as an internal matter of India but has also lodged a strong objection to it.
