New parliament building will become a witness of self-reliant India: PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the new Parliament House on Thursday. On this occasion, the Prime Minister mentioned the importance of the present Parliament House and said that ‘our country and constitution have been constructed in this Parliament House. This Parliament House has been a symbol of the country’s ups and downs, hopes, aspirations and journey. All this is our heritage, but along with the powerful history of Parliament, reality also needs to be accepted. The PM said that with the need of the times, many efforts have been made to upgrade this building. Sound, IT, security systems have been upgraded, walls have also been broken many times, but now this building is seeking rest.

The PM said that ‘many new things are being done in the new Parliament House, due to which the capacity of MPs will be increased, modern methods will come in the work culture. When citizens come to meet the MP, they find it very difficult. There is a lack of space in the Parliament House. But in future, there will be such a system for every MP so that he can meet the people coming from his parliamentary constituency.

The PM said that ‘the new parliament building will become a witness of self-reliant India. The old building fulfilled the needs of the country, but the new parliament building will fulfill the aspirations of the 21st century. We, the people of India, will together build this new building of our Parliament. And what will be beautiful from this, what will be sacred from this, that when India celebrates 75 years of its independence, then it will become the new building of our Parliament, the true inspiration of that festival.

PM Modi said that ‘when we praise the glory of our democracy by faith, the world will say India is Mother of Democracy’. He said that there should be dialogue in democracy. Difference should be in place but not disconnected. The dialogue should go on. There should be no differences in the service of the people. Optimism has to be awakened. Everyone reached here is accountable. National interest is paramount in our decision.
