New Delhi: The Congress government led by V. Narayan Sami in Puducherry has been asked to prove its majority on 22 February. LG Tamilisai Sundararajan has asked Narayanasamy to prove his majority on Monday. The ruling Congress party in Puducherry is struggling with the number crisis. It is believed that after the resignation of four Congress MLAs, the government of CM Narayanasamy has come in a minority. However, the Chief Minister has denied this.
After the removal of Kiran Bedi, Tamilisai Sundararajan, who took charge as the Lieutenant Governor, said that floor test is necessary to ensure that the Congress government is in majority. In the 30-member Puducherry Assembly, the Congress had 15 MLAs while it also had the support of three DMK and one Independent. However, after the resignation of four Congress MLAs, the situation has changed and it is believed that the state Congress government is not in a position to raise the majority figure.
