New Delhi: The UP government has challenged the High Court’s order in the Supreme Court to impose lockdown in five districts of the state amid the growing Corona cases in Uttar Pradesh. The UP government will demand a stay on the Allahabad High Court’s decision. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta will demand a early hearing from CJI SA Bobde. According to the UP government, the Allahabad High Court has encroached upon the jurisdiction of the executive. The Allahabad High Court had ordered the lockdown in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur and Gorakhpur.
The Supreme Court can demand an early hearing on this petition. The UP government has refused to accept the order of the Supreme Court. It has been said by the state government that it will not execute this order as it has to protect both the life and livelihood of the people. The UP government has said that at present, there will not be ‘complete lockdown’ in cities.
The court directed the state government to ensure that grocery stores and other commercial shops, except drug stores where there are more than three employees, remain closed till April 26, 2021. Similarly, all malls, shopping complexes, restaurants , The catering shops were directed to be closed till 26 April. It was also said that apart from this, all religious places will remain closed during this period and no social program should be allowed except marriage.
