New Delhi: The Interim Grievance Officer for the country of micro-blogging site Twitter has resigned. Due to this, as per the new IT rules, Twitter does not have a Grievance Officer to resolve the complaints of the subscribers of the country. There is a dispute between Twitter and the central government regarding the compliance of these rules.
A source said that Dharmendra Chatur was recently appointed as Interim Grievance Officer for the country by Twitter.
His name is no longer on the Twitter website. Under the new rules, it is mandatory for the company to provide information about Grievance Officer on the website. Twitter declined to comment on this.
The government had slammed Twitter for the delay in complying with the country’s new IT rules. The new rules have come into effect from last month. Under these, social media companies will have to make a system for redressal of complaints of users or victims.
It is mandatory for all social media companies having more than 50 lakh user base to appoint a Grievance Officer.
