NK Singh, the chairman of the 15th Finance Commission, was chosen as President of the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) Society. Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who has held office since 1992, will succeed. According to an official release, Dr. Singh proposed his nomination to the IEG’s general assembly for consideration.
Dr. Singh has indicated his intention to resign from his post due to health concerns. “Given my late age and deteriorating health, I am forced to resign from numerous active duties,” the statement read, quoting him. I’m afraid I’ll have to ask you to switch leaders for the rest of your voyage. With this in mind, I would like to nominate Shri N.K. Singh, a valued and capable friend, to head the IEG Society as its President.” IEG was created in 1952 by the famous economist VKRV Rao as an autonomous, interdisciplinary centre for advanced research and teaching.
