Bitcoin Boom: PayPal Allows Users to Invest in Crypto

PayPal Holdings Inc (PYPL.O) announced on Monday that clients in the United Kingdom would be able to buy, trade, and hold bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies starting this week. The launch, which is the first time PayPal’s cryptocurrency services have been offered outside the United States, might encourage further widespread use of the new asset class.

The San Jose, California-based firm is one of the largest mainstream financial organisations to provide customers access to cryptocurrencies, with over 403 million active accounts worldwide. Early this year, PayPal introduced cryptocurrency buying and selling in the United States, subsequently allowing consumers to utilise their digital coin holdings to purchase at PayPal’s network of millions of merchants.

The business anticipated that entering the new asset class would stimulate the worldwide use of virtual coins and prepare its network for future digital currencies that companies and central banks may produce. Customers will buy bitcoin, ether, litecoin, and bitcoin cash using their PayPal wallets, which will be available both online and on the mobile app. In the face of growing cryptocurrency values, more traditional financial organisations have begun to provide their clients, both individuals and institutions, access to digital assets.

On Monday, Bitcoin surged $50000 for the first time since the collapse in May of this year. Bitcoin, the world’s most popular currency, soared to an all-time high of $65000 in April. The strong surge in Bitcoin was triggered by two promising developments this week. The first was PayPal’s statement that it will begin offering services for buying, trading, and holding digital currencies in the United Kingdom. This news marked the first time PayPal’s cryptocurrency services have been provided outside of the United States. In a similar vein, PayPal launched cryptocurrency services in the United States earlier this year for buying, selling, and holding cryptocurrency.

Last Thursday, Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange platform, said that the firm would acquire $500 million in crypto on its balance sheet and invest 10% of its quarterly earnings into a crypto assets’ portfolio, causing Bitcoin to skyrocket. The business said it would soon be the first publicly listed corporation to hold Bitcoin rival Ether, DeFi tokens, and other crypto assets on its books.

Bitcoin is presently trading near to the important psychological milestone of $50,000,” said Siddharth Menon, COO of WazirX, when asked about Bitcoin breaking the $50,000 barrier. On the daily charts, Bitcoin is trading near the first barrier level of $49,200, with the second resistance level of $61,000 if we breach $50,000. The first support level might be as low as $45,000, while the second support level could be as high as $41,000.”
