Taking strong offense to two of Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu‘s advisors’ recent statements on sensitive national issues such as Kashmir and Pakistan, Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh on Sunday warned against such heinous and ill-conceived remarks that could jeopardise the state’s and country’s peace and stability. Amarinder advised Sidhu’s advisers to keep offering counsel to the state Congress president and not to talk on topics about which they had little or no expertise and were unaware of the consequences of their remarks.
Amarinder was responding to reports that Dr Pyare Lal Garg questioned his criticism of Pakistan and Malwinder Singh Mali’s prior contentious speech on Kashmir. Sidhu just selected both of them as his advisers. Amarinder expressed surprise by Mali and Garg’s remarkable comments, which he described as wholly wrong and hostile to India’s and the Congress’s declared positions on Pakistan and Kashmir.

He asked the president of the Punjab Congress to rein in his advisers before they cause further harm to India’s interests. “Kashmir was and remains an inalienable part of India,” the Chief Minister declared, adding that Mali had effectively and strangely toed Islamabad’s line with his statement to the contrary. “This is completely anti-national,” he said, adding criticising Mali for refusing to retract his comments despite significant condemnation from other parties as well as within the Congress.
Navjot Singh Sidhu, the Punjab Congress president, has again attacked the state government over the MSP provided to sugarcane farmers. Sidhu said on Twitter that Punjab’s Minimum Support Price (MSP) for sugarcane farmers is low compared to Haryana’s and other states’ MSPs. “The sugarcane farmers’ dispute must be addressed quickly and peacefully. Surprisingly, despite the greater cost of agriculture in Punjab, the state-assured price in Haryana is too low. The Punjab SAP could be improved as a torchbearer for agriculture!” In a tweet, Sidhu remarked.

This isn’t the first time the newly-elected Punjab Congress president has used social media to point out the flaws of his administration. He had previously criticised the state’s Congress administration, challenging Amarinder Singh’s inactivity in the wake of the Special Task Force (STF) findings in the drug trafficking case.
