BJP Starts Padayatra in Telangana

Bandi Sanjay, the head of the Telangana branch of the BJP, is expected to begin his ‘padayatra’ on Saturday from the Bhagyalaxmi temple, which is located next to the famous Charminar. At 9.30 a.m., Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy will formally launch the Praja Sangrama Yatra walkathon.

Tarun Chugh, the BJP’s national general secretary in Telangana, will be in attendance, as will BJP OBC Morcha national president Dr K Laxman, the party’s national vice president DK Aruna, and other dignitaries. Sanjay, a member of Parliament, has declared that his walkathon will be held to expose the TRS government’s failings over the previous seven years and establish what he refers to as “democracy Telangana.”

The saffron party intends to hold the padayatra in four stages until the 2023 Assembly elections. The first phase, which began on Saturday, would cover 750 kilometres and go through the former districts of Ranga Reddy, Medak, Nizamabad, and Karimnagar. The padayatra will end on October 2 at Huzurabad, where there will be by-elections.

The padayatra had been postponed twice previously. The Parliament session was initially planned to begin on August 9 but was delayed until August 24. Due to the death of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh and the three-day mourning period, it was rescheduled for August 28. Sanjay will interact with individuals throughout the padayatra to learn about their concerns and to accept their representations. He’ll also discuss the BJP-led government’s many initiatives at the federal level.

The BJP leader will also discuss the party’s vision and the policies executed if it is elected to power in the next elections. In light of the upcoming by-election to the Huzurabad Assembly constituency, the padayatra will be crucial. Eatala Rajender resigned from the ruling TRS after being removed from the state Cabinet by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in May, leaving the seat vacant.

Rajender, who just joined the BJP, will run as the saffron party’s candidate in the by-elections. The BJP will go all out to win the by-election, which is likely to set the tone for the elections in 2023. After losing in the Legislative Council elections and the by-election to the Nagarjuna Sagar constituency, the party will be seeking to rebound.

Meanwhile, K.T. Rama Rao, the TRS working president, took potshots at the BJP’s padayatra. Although Sanjay’s name includes the term Bandi, he will be walking due to a significant increase in the price of gasoline, he added. KTR further speculated that Bandi Sanjay might be on a padayatra to locate other government properties that the BJP-led administration at the federal level might sell.

According to the TRS representative, the BJP leader should explain why the BJP administration failed to deposit Rs15 lakh each in the bank accounts of citizens as promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi his padayatra. He said, “He should also explain what the BJP administration has done for Telangana over the previous seven years.”
