Terror Accused Arrested from Delhi Trained by ISI Major

An inquiry into the case has since revealed that the accused terrorists were trained under a Major or Lieutenant-rank Army officer called Ghazi, who was arrested by Delhi Police on Tuesday as part of an ISI-backed terror cell in Pakistan.

Osama alias Sami (22) and Zeeshan Qamar (28), two of the six detained guys, informed police that they were carried to Pakistan on boats and arrived at Gwadar port after further brief sea trips. They were then driven to a farmhouse in Sindh province, where they were met by three Pakistani citizens. Jabbar and Hamza, two of them, were members of the country’s army unit. According to those acquainted with the situation, Hamza and Jabbar were Ghazi’s subordinates.

Ghazi’s subordinates provided Zeeshan and Osama with training, according to authorities. They went on to say that Hamza used to dress in civilian clothes but was well-liked in the training camp. The accused, together with 15-16 Bengali-speaking persons, were taught how to make explosives and IEDs, as well as how to conduct arson using common household goods. Osama and Zeeshan were also taught how to handle and use handguns and AK-47s.

Apart from Zeeshan and Osama, Delhi Police arrested four other people on Tuesday, according to special commissioner of police (special cell) Neeraj Thakur. During the next Christmas season, the gang was allegedly preparing to carry out serial bombings and targeted assassinations in at least three Indian states — Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Maharashtra.
