Two attorneys filed a plea in the Supreme Court on Tuesday, requesting that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigate the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday, which killed at least eight people, including farmers and a journalist. According to the attorneys, the investigation should be completed within a set time frame and under the supervision of the Supreme Court.
According to the petition, the court was also asked to order the Ministry of Home Affairs and the police department to file a first information report (FIR) in the matter. Union minister of state for home Ajay Kumar Mishra, Teni’s son Ashish Mishra, and others have been identified in an FIR filed based on allegations submitted by farmers. Top officials have been charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, and 20 other counts in the FIR.

While the minister has denied his son’s participation in the event, he has also indicated that Ashish is willing to face any investigation into the matter. According to villagers, four farmers were killed after being struck by a convoy driven by the minister’s son.
Those who were traveling in one of the automobiles and were beaten to death by the crowd were the other victims. Minutes before Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya visited the region, the event was reported.
