Amarinder Singh’s “friend request” was accepted a day after stating he would start a new organization and intended to team up with the BJP for the Punjab poll. Dushyant Gautam, the BJP’s Punjab in-charge, stated today, “We are ready for an alliance with Captain Amarinder Singh.” “Our doors are open to an alliance,” Mr. Gautam added, “but only our parliamentary board can make the choice.” He stated that the BJP was always willing to work with patriotic organizations that cared about national security.

Amarinder Singh, who was forced to resign as Punjab Chief Minister by the Congress last month, said in tweets on Tuesday that he will create a new political party, confirming what he had previously stated about quitting the Congress, his four-decade-old political organization. He further stated that if the farmers’ protest is addressed, he will explore a “seat agreement” with the BJP and the breakaway Akali parties for the four-month-old assembly elections. After his recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah sparked suspicion, the Captain denied joining forces with the BJP.
The other day, he wrote on Twitter: “If the #FarmersProtest is settled in farmers’ favour, I am hopeful about a seat deal with the BJP in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections. Alliances with like-minded parties, such as breakaway Akali factions, notably the Dhindsa and Brahmpura factions, are also being considered.” Despite disputes with Amarinder Singh while he was Chief Minister in the Congress government, the BJP maintained the two parties shared issues.

He said, ” “Farmers are also present today. We have also fought for the welfare of farmers in the past. Amarinder Singh is also concerned about the well-being of farmers. We’ll sit down and talk about how to end this protest.” The Captain, who is 79 years old, has yet to resign from Congress. Though the party has not issued an official response to Mr. Singh’s tweets, a Punjab minister, Pargat Singh, said, “I had earlier mentioned that the Captain is linked with the BJP and Akali Dal and that he used to receive his agenda from the BJP.” Mr. Singh, a two-term Punjab Chief Minister, resigned in September after accusing his party of “humiliation” during a protracted battle with Navjot Singh Sidhu.
