
After weeks of treatment, Former Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was discharged today from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. After a spell of fever and weakness, the ex-PM was admitted to the medical facility on October 13th. Singh was diagnosed with dengue fever shortly after his arrival and was allegedly treated by a team of doctors from the hospital’s cardio-neuro center, supervised by Dr. Nitish Naik.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya paid a surprise visit to Singh during his treatment, which sparked outrage because a photographer accompanied him. Daman Singh, the former Prime Minister’s daughter, said that her mother was concerned when the photographer entered the room and that she was disregarded when she asked him to leave.
Singh had tested positive for the ne coronavirus in April of this year and had minimal symptoms. As a precaution, he was hospitalized at the AIIMS Trauma Centre and was discharged following a good recovery. The former prime minister was taken to the hospital to be assessed for a high-grade fever in a private room of the cardiothoracic and neurosciences center. He was cared for by a team of doctors led by Dr. Nitish Naik.

Dr. Naik is a professor in the department of cardiology and served as the former PM’s physician for many years. Singh has a history of heart problems, and in 2009, he had revision heart bypass surgery at AIIMS. According to Congress sources, Dr. Singh had a temperature and was feeble. According to party sources, he was after that taken to AIIMS for additional examination and fluid administration.
