Yogi, Priyanka, Akhilesh, All React to Decision of Repealing Farm Laws and Impact on Assembly Elections

While Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath applauded the national government’s decision to repeal the three farm laws, claiming that the government failed to clarify its stance to farmers, the state’s opposition dismissed the move as an election ploy. BSP president Mayawati demanded compensation for the families of farmers killed during the demonstrations, while AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reminded the audience of the Lakhimpur Kheri event and the terms used to refer to the protesting farmers, such as “andolanjivi” and “atankwadi.”

“Farmers were opposing the three farm laws, and on the occasion of Guruparva, the Prime Minister, using the language of democratic discussion, took the historic decision to abolish the three agricultural laws,” Adityanath remarked. He praised the move, saying, “Yadyapi shuru se hi is sambandh mein ek bara samudaye aisa tha jo is baat ko manta tha ki kisanon ki amdani ko barhane ke liye is prakar ke kanoon mehatvapurna bhumika ka nirvahan “Yeh ho sakta hai humare staar pe kahin kami,” he continued, “apni baat samjhane mein kahin na kahin vifal rahe.”

Meanwhile, AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi referred to Modi’s apologies and repeal of the legislation as an electoral gimmick, saying, “Is the people not able to comprehend those elections are coming they must have thought that the environment is not appropriate for them.” The Vidhan Sabha survey has arrived, and it does not look to be in their favour. They’ve now come to apologise ahead of the elections.” Reminding people of the Lakhimpur Kheri event, Priyanka said the Prime Minister remained mute and did not say anything, and despite being in Lucknow, he did not visit the victims.

“They supported murderers and now they’re apologising after more than 600 to 700 farmers were killed,” Priyanka remarked, recalling the farmers’ families who were crushed by the SUV cavalcade. “How can we trust your intentions today?” Priyanka added, asking the public to comprehend that representative of the same administration had referred to the protesting farmers using phrases like “andolanjivi, gunde, atankwadi, and desh droh.” Mayawati claimed that the decision to remove the restrictions should have been made years ago.

This decision should have been made far sooner to avoid a slew of conflicts and problems,” the BSP leader said, adding that both the federal and state governments should consult farmers before enacting any new legislation that affects them. During the approaching winter session of Parliament, she also requested a national law establishing a minimum support price for farmers.

Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party, also responded, claiming that the decision to repeal the three agricultural regulations was made with elections in mind and “in order to collect votes” in the approaching elections. At a news conference at the party’s Lucknow headquarters, the SP chairman also introduced a slogan: “Saaf nahi hai inka dil, Chunav baad phir layenge Bill.”

On this momentous occasion, I would want to congratulate all of the country’s farmers,” Akhilesh added. Three Black Laws were repealed today as a result of their battle. The repeal of the three Black laws is a win for farmers and democracy against arrogance. People will not forgive and will sweep them under the rug. Someone’s falsehoods will not hold water in the face of the murders of hundreds of farmers.

Those who have apologised should also commit to stay out of politics for the rest of their lives. They believe that by feigning an apology, they would be able to reclaim control. They are understood by the masses. They didn’t take the farmers into account. They also degraded the farmers to a great extent. “For ‘annadaatas,’ the type of terminology used for farmers was inconceivable,” he remarked.
