Washington: The World Bank has approved a billion-dollar emergency fund for India in the wake of the corona virus epidemic. 73 people have died in the country due to this epidemic and about 2,586 people are infected.

The World Bank said on Thursday that it has made a provision of US $ 1.9 billion as the first phase of aid projects, which will help 25 countries, and will start new operations in 40 countries through a speedy process. India received the largest share of this emergency financial aid (one billion dollars).

After the Board of Directors approved first-stage aid to developing countries to combat the covid-19 pandemic, the World Bank said, “One billion dollars of emergency financing in India is better tested, purchasing personal protective equipment and Setting up new separate units will help. ” The World Bank approved $ 200 million for Pakistan in South Asia, $ 100 million for Afghanistan, $ 7 million for Maldives and $ 12.86 million for Sri Lanka.
