New Delhi: Kapil Wadhavan and Dheeraj Wadhavan have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the CBI Special Court in the Yes Bank case. The bail petition filed by him will be heard on May 13. Wadhawan brothers are accused in a corruption case registered against Yes Bank’s former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rana Kapoor.
Officials said the court had earlier sent Kapil and his brother Dheeraj, promoters of RKW Developers, to CBI custody till May 1 for questioning in the case. Both of them were produced in a special court here on Friday after their earlier term of custody was over.
The Wadhawan brothers were arrested on 26 April from Mahabaleshwar, a hill station near Mumbai. A scam case of several crores was registered against him about 50 days ago. The other accused in the case are former CEO and co-founder of Yes Bank, Rana Kapoor.
In this case, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said on 26 April that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken into custody the scam accused DHFL promoters Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan and the local police gave full support to the Central Investigation Agency.
Both are accused of financial irregularities under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and were out on bail since 21 February. He was caught earlier this month when he was going from Mumbai to Mahabaleshwar in violation of the lockdown.
