Terrorists murdered a police officer and a civilian in two separate strikes in Anantnag and Srinagar this evening, authorities said. In the Anantnag town of Bijbehara, an Assistant Sub Inspector of Police was attacked. He was seriously hurt and taken to the hospital, where he died. Mohammad Ashraf has been recognised as the officer.

According to police, the area has been blocked off in order to trace down the perpetrators. Terrorists sponsored from across the border have carried out a few targeted assaults against religious minority populations in Jammu and Kashmir, with four terrorists killed in the process.

Comprehensive security and intelligence system, according to the minister, is in place to thwart any terrorist strike. Additionally, day and night area dominance, patrolling, and proactive anti-terrorist actions are carried out. In addition, he added, round-the-clock checks at ‘nakas’ and road-opening parties are being bolstered at crucial spots to counter any terrorist strike.
