Four days after a FIR was filed against him for allegedly disrespecting Mahatma Gandhi, Chhattisgarh Police detained Hindu religious leader Kalicharan Maharaj from Madhya Pradesh. According to the police, he is being transported to Chhattisgarh, where he will appear in court.

Three different police teams were dispatched to Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra to apprehend him, according to top police authorities. ” He was apprehended at 4 a.m. and is being transported to Raipur, where he is likely to arrive by the evening,” Raipur Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal said.
Kalicharan reportedly attacked Mahatma Gandhi and praised Nathuram Godse for killing him while attending the ‘Dharam Sansad’ in the state capital Raipur on December 25-26. On the basis of a complaint by Congress leader Pramod Dubey, a FIR was filed against him on Sunday night under IPC Sections 505(2) and 294.
In Maharastra’s Akola district, a lawsuit was also filed against Kalicharan over his Raipur remarks. Kalicharan Maharaj was arrested by Pune city police on Tuesday for allegedly making a hate speech during the ‘Shivpratap Din’ programme in Pune on December 19.
Prashant Agarwal, a senior police official in Raipur, verified Kalicharan’s detention. Instead, he went to a rented house about 25 kilometres outside of Khajuraho to avoid the cops, who had been looking for him since the day a case was filed against him.

A group of ten police officers eventually found him down this morning, apprehended him, and returned him to Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. By the evening, he’ll be transported before a court.Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra has expressed his displeasure with the way in which Kalicharan was apprehended.
