The president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Krantikari), Surjit Singh Phool, asserted on Thursday that they thought the Senior Superintendent of Police Ferozepur was “bluffing” when he asked them to clear the road since Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on his way to a rally by road.
Mr Phool, speaking to the media, said, “The SSP of Ferozepur requested us to leave the road since the prime minister was driving to the rally place. We assumed he was joking.”

The ruling Congress administration has been criticised by the BJP for destroying the PM’s schedule , and the significant security failure.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi denied that the Prime Minister’s security had been breached, claiming that he had no knowledge of the PM’s change of route. “We had asked them (the PMO) to cancel the visit owing to inclement weather and demonstrations. We were completely unaware of his (Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s) abrupt route change. There were no security issues during the PM’s visit” Mr. Channi remarked at a press conference on Wednesday.

Captain Amarinder Singh, the former Punjab chief minister, has requested Mr Channi’s resignation, claiming that the Punjab administration is unable to offer a peaceful passage for the country’s Prime Minister, even though he is only 10 kilometres from the Pakistan border.
