Uttar Pradesh Got First Rank in Jal Shakti Ministry Awards

The National Water Awards 2020, organised by the Union ministry of Jal Shakti, awarded Uttar Pradesh first place for efforts toward water conservation on Friday.

Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu, meanwhile, took second and third place in the award for states. ITC Limited, Kolkata, and Adani Foundation, Gujarat, were named one and second, respectively, in the best industry for CSR activities category, according to the government.

Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Shekhawat remarked during the announcement that the country’s present water demand is around 1,100 billion cubic metres per year, with a predicted increase to 1,447 billion cubic metres by 2050. The awards, he said, are intended to promote competitiveness among states in the field of water conservation. The Ministry of Water created the National Water Awards in 2018. This year, a total of 57 awards were given out in 11 different categories.

Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board took first place in the best institution/RWA/religious organisations for campus category, while IIT Gandhinagar and Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Faridabad came in second and third, respectively.
