The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the dates for the 2022 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Manipur, and Uttarakhand.
The Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the next assembly elections in Goa, Punjab, Manipur, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, following a series of consultations with health officials. The BJP is in control in four of the five poll-bound states, including Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. While the current Uttar Pradesh assembly term ends in May, the terms of the other four assemblies conclude in March on separate dates.

EC also directs no political rallies till 15 January and fake or hate speeches in the states. They added, All election officials must be vaccinated twice. The CEC stated that because they are frontline employees, they must also be given booster doses. According to the CEC, more than 15 crore persons in these election states have received the first dosage of the vaccine, citing immunisation data from the poll-bound states.
