Walmart Inc’s Flipkart announced that it would create 70,000 new job opportunities for people in India.
It would also employ many more people as delivery partners and in other functions or roles.
This is because the company is expecting a huge rise in online shopping ahead of Flipkart’s “Big Billion Days”.
Flipkart’s “Big Billion Days” is a 4 or 5 day long sale that usually takes place in October to target the biggest festival of Diwali in India.
Many e-commerce companies are looking out for a major increase in the online retail market due to the coronavirus pandemic and its lockdown.
The company said it would also register over 50,000 kiranas, or small grocery stores, for last-mile delivery.
