On Tuesday, RPN Singh, a former Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, resigned from the Congress. He is likely to join Bharatiya Janata Party at 3pm today.

“Today, at a time when we are commemorating the founding of our wonderful Republic, I begin a new chapter in my political adventure.” He tweeted on Tuesday and declared his resignation from Congress.
According to sources, the BJP is planning to run RPN Singh in the Padrauna Assembly seat in Kushinagar against Swami Prasad Maurya. Maurya, a former BJP minister in the state cabinet, defected to the Samajwadi Party.

RPN Singh’s resignation comes just a day after the Congress selected him as one of its top campaigners for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.
