To meet the shortage of oxygen during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Indian Oil Corporation of the public sector has started supplying medical grade oxygen.
The country’s largest oil marketing company said today that it has decided to supply 150 tonnes of oxygen to hospitals in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab without any profit. Its first shipment has been done to the Maha Durga Charitable Trust Hospital in Delhi.
With the increasing number of Covid-19 patients, the supply of medical grade oxygen has become a challenge for them. Many states including Delhi are facing problems due to lack of oxygen. In view of this, Indian Oil has started making medical grade liquid oxygen from the extremely pure oxygen used in its monoethylene glycol unit in its ‘Papanip Refinery and Petrochemical Complex’.
Indian Oil President SM Vaidya said that the company is committed to provide all possible help to the country in the hour of crisis. He said, “Our main focus during the pandemic period has been to ensure the supply of essential fuels round the clock.” We have also increased the production of raw materials for PPE kits and now we are supplying life saving medical oxygen to hospitals. “
