New Delhi: According to the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), more than 75 lakh people have lost their jobs in the month of April. The result of this is that the unemployment rate in the country has reached close to 8 percent. This information was given today by CMIE chief Mahesh Vyas. According to Vyas, in the coming days, the situation of the country on the employment front is expected to continue to be difficult.
According to the latest CMIE data, the average unemployment rate of the entire country has increased to 7.97 percent in the month of April, which is the highest level in 4 months. Earlier, the national average of unemployment rate was 6.50 percent in the month of March. The condition of the urban areas is even worse, where the unemployment rate has reached 9.78 percent in April. In comparison, the condition of villages is slightly less, where unemployment has been recorded at 7.13 per cent. In the month of March, both urban and rural areas had lower unemployment rates than in April.
Due to the second wave of Corona epidemic, there are situations like lock-down in many areas of the country. Only the most essential activities are allowed in these areas, while most of the remaining work is closed. Due to this, overall economic activities are having a very bad effect. The loss of jobs of millions of people is the result of this.
