Today, the world’s richest man Jeff Bezos stepped down from his CEO position at Amazon after exactly 27 years. It was 5 July 1994 when Bezos founded Amazon. But don’t feel sad as the 57-year-old American entrepreneur is not quitting the company but will acting as an executive chair and shift his focus on new innovations and product initiatives.
Some interesting lessons one can always learn from the entrepreneurial journey of the business magnate are here.
1) Bezos thought to himself what are the things he doesn’t want to regret in his life. Like he imagined if he was 80 years, what are the things that he would have regretted to have not done by then in life, and after this thought process, he works backward. For example, when he founded the internet company, he was working in a high-powered finance job, however, he quit the job to focus on Amazon and one can see what he has attained in the 27 years of taking risks and minimizing his regrets from life.
2) Bezos’s life showed that there is nothing called a perfect life. Whenever one wants to make a decision in their life, one should go ahead without feeling guilt or regret in life. Jeff’s life also had many failures but he never let them come in the way of achieving success. There is no fixed formula for success.
3) One should rather focus on their personal strengths than studying or relying totally on the success stories of highly achieving performers because they at times tend to ignore or downplay their failures and this makes us believe that success is a smooth journey. Taking risks and adding value to others’ lives should be a part of our journey.
4) Don’t wait for the future to happen on its own but instead become the change agent to solve the problem and create a solution in the world to make it a better place to live in.
