Parents of around 12 renowned schools in Mumbai have plans to approach the Bombay High Court to raise the issue of the fee structures of these schools.
Forum for Fairness in Education (FFE), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) working for parents announced the news at a press conference recently.
Some parents are of the opinion that the private schools are not being understanding towards the parents despite the current economic situation of the parents.
Many parents are facing pay cuts and job losses in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.
Some schools in Mumbai are charging fees like bus fees, laboratory fees etc which are not applicable in the current scenario as students are sitting at home and taking online classes.
When parents tried to explain the situation to the school officials, they were told to submit their income certificate to get concessions.
Parents are hopeful that the Bombay High Court will provide justice to their problems of fee hikes for the current academic year.
