Government’s intervention on education is as good as possible, says PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the inaugural session of the Conference of Governors on National Education Policy on Monday, said that the government’s intervention on education is as good as possible. PM Modi also said that in the new education policy, more importance has been given to learning than reading.

He said, ‘Education policy and education system is an important medium to fulfill the aspirations of the country. Center, state government, local bodies, all are attached to the responsibility of education system. But it is also true that the government, its interference, its influence in education policy should be at least. ‘

PM Modi also said, “The more teachers and parents will join the education policy, the more students will get involved and the more relevance it will be.” The PM further said, “The new education policy was going on for less than four to five years. Millions of people had given their suggestions. More than 2 lakh people had suggested at different points on its draft. National education policy seems to be its education policy, from the village teacher to the big educationist.

“The pressure on students for specific streams have been removed. Our youth will now be able to learn according to their interests. Earlier, students used to pick a stream beyond their aptitude and they realised it much later. Such problems have been done away with in the NEP,” PM said.

“With vocational exposure right from early age, our youth will get better prepared for life. Our youth’s participation in the global job market and employ-ability in India will increase with practical learning,” PM added.

“Under the NEP, we’ve opened the pathway to open campuses of best international institutes in India for our students. When top campuses will open in India, our students will get more competitive and will not have to go abroad for quality education,” PM Modi said.
