New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has demanded the Election Commission to conduct the elections for the remaining four phases of West Bengal in one phase.
Mamta Banerjee’s suggestion has come at a time when the Election Commission of Bengal has called an all-party meeting in view of the increasing cases of Corona, in which the opinion of all parties will be known about the election of the remaining phases. However, the election commission has made it clear earlier that it is not possible to hold the assembly elections of the remaining phases together.
On Thursday evening, Mamta Banerjee said in a tweet that, in view of the epidemic, we strongly opposed the Election Commission to conduct the Assembly elections in eight phases. Now that the Corona cases are growing wildly in Bengal, it is requested from the Election Commission that the elections of the remaining phases be resolved simultaneously. This will protect people from the risk of corona and infection can also be reduced.
It is worth noting that the Election Commission had announced to conduct assembly elections for West Bengal in eight phases. In Bengal, the cases of corona are increasing continuously and daily this number has reached close to 6 thousand. The Kolkata High Court also expressed its displeasure at the flying stripes of basic standards of Corona like social distancing, wearing masks at election rallies in Bengal.
