On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that under the BJP government, girls were given the opportunity to serve in the Indian defence services and were admitted to Sainik schools.

Shah made the remarks while campaigning in Rudraprayag for the forthcoming Uttarakhand Assembly Elections.

“Previously, only males were eligible for Sainik school; girls were not allowed to apply, but we (BJP) changed that… “Today, our daughters may be pilots, join the NDA, and compete with boys,” Shah remarked.

In order to achieve Atma Nirbhar Bharat, the BJP government in Uttarakhand is trying to modernise the Army and produce weaponry within the country, according to the leader.

“The Modi government is working on several projects to modernise the Army and make the country self-reliant in weapon manufacture,” Shah said while speaking to former Army troops in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand’s poll-bound state.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the BJP administration at the Centre increased the defence budget from Rs 2 lakh crore in 2013-14 to Rs 4.78 crore in 2021-22, according to the former BJP President.

In a statement highlighting the BJP’s efforts in the defence sector, Shah stated that the party has created programmes to supply contemporary defence material to people on the front lines of duty, while also making an effort to guarantee that the quality is not compromised. Shah slammed the Congress, calling them a “failed government” while describing the BJP as a “double-engine” government.
