Deoria/Gorakhpur (UP): The police took a 20-year-old into custody for providing false information that terrorists were planning to blow up the Gorakhnath temple on Diwali, official sources said on Friday. To create sensation, the youth dialled the emergency number 112 and identified himself as a senior police officer Pradyumnya, sources further said.

When the youth was questioned, he said that he was near the BRD Medical College in the district and saw nearly half a dozen people entering the hospital in the name of getting medical aid, but their purpose was to destroy the Gorakhnath temple on Diwali.

According to circle officer Yash Tripathi, during the inquiry the caller revealed his real identity that he was not the police officer Pradyumnya but Anant Gupta, a resident of the Mehra Purwan area in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh. A police team reached his house and came to know that he had given false information about the bowing up of the Gorakhnath temple. The youth was arrested, the circle officer said. On the grounds of the complaint by Kotwali inspector Anil Tiwari, Anant Gupta was arrested under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. He was sent to jail.
