Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government plans to launch “one-stop centres” in five cities on Thursday when the people will observe World Aids Day. The purpose is to facilitate tests for multiple diseases at one place. The centres will have the facilities for testing HIV, TB and other communicable diseases.
Such centres will be set up in Varanasi, Kanpur, Moradabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar and in Meerut.
There are 25 one-stop centres in 25 states. According to additional project director of UP Aids Control Society Hira Lal, these centres will provide counselling on mental health.
The Kanpur centre will also focus on transgenders and migrant workers. The one in Varanasi will pay attention to injectable drug users and transgenders. The centres will have a doctor and an ANM to examine the patients on the grounds of symptoms.
